Kids Divisions

2 lb weigh-in allowance for all kids divisions.

Adult Divisions

Adults must make weight or risk disqualification. No allowance.

  • Points are awarded only after the position is clearly controlled for 3 seconds.
  • A submission ends the match — points only matter if there is no submission.
  • No advantages are used. Only points count.
  • If the score is tied after 4 minutes, the match goes to sudden-victory overtime — first point scored wins.

Prohibited Techniques – Kids

For the safety of all youth competitors, the following are NOT permitted.

Ages 16+ – Submission Only

Designed to encourage aggressive jiu-jitsu and decisive finishes.

Regulation

5 minutes — submission only. No points are used during regulation.

Overtime

One round of EBI-style overtime if no submission occurs in regulation.

EBI Overtime Procedure

  1. Coin flip — winner chooses Back Control or Armbar position.
  2. Each athlete receives one attack round and one defense round.

Deciding the Winner

  • Fastest submission wins.
  • If both submit or both escape — fastest escape wins.
  • If no submission or escape is achieved, a second round of overtime decides the winner.

Safety & Sportsmanship

  • Referees may stop any match immediately to protect athlete safety.
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct by athletes or coaches may result in disqualification.
